Green Shoots International School
Follows School Year
For ages 2 - 15 years.
Green Shoots is an inspirational learning community that fosters happy, mindful and creative thinkers committed to the sustainable development of our world. We integrate the importance of a values-led life into every aspect of a child’s learning journey, from the classroom to the dinner table, the sports field to the journey home. We recognise the importance of preparing children for the exams that some higher education systems still prioritise, but we also innovate to develop the broader educational experiences that more progressive universities and professions are looking for. Primary-aged children are taught to question, analyse and discuss concepts beyond the written curriculum, and by the time they reach the secondary years, students are exposed to in-house courses that consider broad concepts like sustainable living and equity, as well as the Green Shoots Global Citizenship Certificate. To support the growth of tomorrow’s leaders we combine two key ingredients: A holistic education, to encourage out-of-the-box thinking, and the ability to connect disparate thoughts and ideas, and A holistic approach to personal development, to build the emotional resilience, self-confidence, and humility that balance an enquiring mind. The Green Shoots Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) runs from 3.40 to 4.40pm each day after school and is also open to children who are not Green Shoots students. Activities have included: Sporting Activities: Senior Sports Hangout, Football, Aikido, Gymnastics The Arts: Choir, Drama, Public Speaking, Dance Scientific and Technical: Mad Scientists, Tinkerlab Games and Crafting: Chess, Minecraft, Sewing, Master Chef, Other activities: Sprouts (the Green Shoots answer to Scouts), Language Clubs in French and Vietnamese, Mandarin and Sign Language For a short term option Green Shoots runs a summer school programme for one month every summer, beginning shortly after the end of term (see school calendar for details). It is offered to children from two to twelve years old. Each week offers a range of fun, themed activities that are suited to the age and interests of children on the programme. Games, group activities, science experiments, treasure hunts, and artistic projects build confidence and expand friendships.
